Suspects flee from court, interim bail rejected

KARACHI: Two suspects, Habibur Rehman and Shakil, who were accused of threatening to kill a woman, commit fraud and embezzlement, managed to flee from court after Additional District and Sessions Judge East Abdul Channa rejected their request for interim bail.

The suspects were brought before the court on Wednesday when their lawyer informed the court that Nusrat Parveen, who they had allegedly threatened, had registered a fake case against his clients after selling a house to them. He produced the documents for the house and informed the judge that Parveen and her relative, Zeeshan, were involved in the deal. The prosecution lawyer said, however, that the suspects were lying when they said that they had purchased the house on January 19 from Parveen and Zeeshan as the latter was in jail at the time and was released on January 22. He added that the suspects had forced their way inside Parveen’s house, and had made her sign the land documents at gunpoint.

After the prosecution submitted evidence of Zeeshan’s release from jail, the court pronounced the house documents as fake and rejected the interim bail. The suspects, however, managed to escape after the hearing as the police were unable to arrest them under their plea for bail.

A case was registered against the suspects at the Zaman Town police station.
