PESHAWAR:

Taliban militants attacked on Friday the house of a pro-government tribal elder in Mohmand Agency, who they had been threatening with death for some time.

Malik Noor, who had openly supported the government against the Taliban but was not associated with any lashkar, managed to escape unhurt but his two sons were killed in the gun-and-rocket attack. His house was badly damaged in the attack as well and a woman was injured.

The attack took place in Manzari Cheena area of the Beazai tehsil of the Mohmand tribal region. The area is close to the agency’s headquarters Ghalanai, located near the Pak-Afghan border.

“A group of 45 militants attacked the house of Noor, who heads the local peace committee, with hand grenades and rockets, killing his two sons,” local official Javed Khan said.

Sources said the militants first fired rockets at the house and then opened fire. Intelligence officials said militants fled soon after.

A spokesperson for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mukkaram Khurasani called local reporters in Mohmand Agency and claimed responsibility for the attack.

Separately, Taliban militants blew up a school in the Atam Killay area of the Beazai town. Local sources said that militants planted explosives inside the Malik Sher Government Boys Primary School in Atam Killay, and the school building was completely destroyed.

In the neighbouring tribal district of Bajaur, at least three gunmen shot dead a member of a local peace committee in Chinar, 45 kilometres northeast of Bajaur’s main town of Khar late Thursday, a local official said. (With additional input from AFP)

Malik Noor the whole Pakistani nation salutes you sir. You are the real patriot. You have paid the ultimate price for your love for Pakistan. All the Taliban apologists watch out. One day these Talibans will be defeated and then we are going to come after you and the other collaborators.
