In the Dark: Railways owes Rs4.9m in power bills

Power supply to the Khanpur Railway Station was severed over non-payment of a Rs 4.9 million bill on Friday. Earlier, Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) provided the railways with a three day extension to pay the bill worth Rs 3.3 million. However, another Rs 1.6 million has now been added to the aggregate. Khanpur senior district officer (SDO) Zafar Abbasi said that electricity to the railway station would be restored if the current bill was paid.  Passengers and residents from Railway Colony said that they had been facing problems following the power cuts and protested outside the railway station.
