ISLAMABAD:

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has directed all police official to take effective steps in controlling crime in the city and adopt a professional attitude to mitigate citizens’ problems.

He stated this while addressing a crime meeting held to review the progress of various zones and police stations.

“Effective strategy is vital to control crime,” he said while reinforcing the importance of ensuring the arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals, still at large.

Another item on the agenda was ensuring quick resolution of citizen complaints and Amin indicated that strict disciplinary action would be taken against police officials responsible for delaying case registration or slowing down investigations.

“Policing is a service-oriented job and every police official must devotedly serve the public,” he maintained. He ordered effective patrolling to curb the theft of vehicles and appreciated the existing measures taken by officials to curb this crime.

Though “street crime has declined in the city, further steps are needed to curtail it completely,” he stated. He also directed all superintendents to keep themselves abreast of complaints and ensure steps for immediate solutions.

The meeting was attended by AIG Operations Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, SSP Islamabad Yousuf Malik, all four SPs, all sub-divisional police officers and in-charge ACLC.

“The police is determined to ensure protection to the lives  of citizens. No stone will be left unturned to accomplish this responsibility,” Malik stated.
