Rangers arrest 31 suspects in Karachi

KARACHI: Thirty-one suspects were apprehended during last 24 hours from different areas of Karachi by Rangers on Tuesday, recovering several weapons from them.

According to the spokesman of Rangers Sindh Major Zaman, several suspects have been arrested for forcing traders to shut their shops whereas raids were conducted in many areas of the metropolis, including Bohri Bazaar and Orangi Town.

Kalashnikovs, repeaters, rifles, pistols and 1,200 rounds of bullets were recovered from the arrested accused.

Earlier, a dozen men, including three target killers, were rounded up in raids in different parts of the city by the Rangers and Criminal Investigation Agency.

Police and Rangers have been involved in a various search operations in Karachi for target killers and militants in attempts to curb violence in the city.

More than 1,000 people have been killed in violence in Karachi this year, including 100 in a single week in August.

I wonder how much the number arrested compares to number killed. It seems as though it's going to either rival it considerable or surpass it in the future.

It's really messed up that there could be so many involved when combined with the time span of absolutely no arrests being made. With these numbers added up, you'd have to be intentionally looking the other way and even then you'd see 20 of them in your peripheral.

I'm not speaking about current performance in incidents such as the one in this article. I mean in general taking the full length of time things have been occurring into mind. In other words the bigger picture and nothing singled out.

Those are MQM's people who forced shop keepers to shut the shops to show the nation that people are infact angry that's why they voluntarily shut their business and go on strike as protest on the speeches of Dr.Mirza against MQM Quaid.But rangers foiled their design.Such tactics of MQM are unhealthy and uncivilized and against democratic norms.They have right to protest but no one has right to force others to shut business through guns.
