ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian in meeting with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Friday told her that the Chinese government would be providing $5 million in cash to the flood-hit people in the country, Foreign Office said.

China has already donated $4.7 million for the flood victims while supplying an additional 7000 tents recently, Foreign Office statement said.

Khar appreciated China's timely assistance and this bears testimony to the time-tested friendship enjoyed by the two countries.

China was the first to announce assistance for flood-hit Pakistanis days before President Asif Ali Zardari launched international appeal for aid.
