KARACHI:

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and other respondents were put on notice for October 5 in a miscellaneous application filed by Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) on Friday.

KESC, through its counsel, barrister Abid Zuberi, seeks implementation of a decision taken by the Economic Coordination Committee which ordered the government and SSGC to cut supply to other sectors and ensure provision of 270 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) to KESC in order to reduce power shortfall to the minimal level.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Imam Bux Baloch of the Sindh High Court after hearing initial arguments ordered issuance of notices to the respondents for October 5.

Gas supply to the KESC is currently 170 mmcfd, which is 100 mmcfd less than the ordered supply.
