Large-scale sanitation drive launched
The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), in coordination with the Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB), have finalised a comprehensive cleanliness and waste disposal plan for Eidul Azha.
The plan covers the disposal of sacrificial animal waste during the three days of Eid, cleaning of slaughter sites, redressal of public complaints within 30 minutes, and round-the-clock operation of control rooms. A rain emergency will be enforced in case of rainfall.
The RWMC has prepared a schedule for the Eid cleanliness operation across Rawalpindi city and 164 union councils in seven tehsils. A total of 6,340 sanitary workers and 1,066 vehicles, along with the required machinery, will participate in the operation for the collection and disposal of animal offal.
Under the operation, cleanliness arrangements will be ensured at 729,577 houses, 1,556 mosques, 98 Eidgahs and 560 designated sacrificial sites.
As many as 33 transfer stations and four dumping sites have been allocated for waste disposal, while 7,991 containers will be utilised.
The company will also use 145,000 kilograms of lime, 2,304 litres of phenyl and 981 litres of rose water during the operation.
