What is behind Hasan Piker’s Cuba subpoena report claims?

Hasan Piker faces subpoena in US probe into Cuba trip involving activists and alleged sanctions violations

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has reportedly been subpoenaed by federal officials as part of an expanding investigation into whether U.S.-based activists violated sanctions laws during a recent trip to Cuba, according to Fox News Digital.

The probe, reported by Fox News Digital, is being led by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and also involves CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin. Both individuals were reportedly issued “Requests for Information” linked to their participation in a March humanitarian mission organised through the Nuestra América Convoy initiative.

Authorities are said to be examining whether participants engaged in prohibited financial or logistical coordination, including travel arrangements, funding channels, or hotel stays potentially restricted under U.S. sanctions on Cuba, Fox News Digital reported.

According to the report, the wider federal review involves multiple agencies, including the Treasury, Justice, and State Departments, and is focused on potential sanctions violations and broader concerns about foreign influence operations.

Sources cited by Fox News Digital suggest that dozens of individuals connected to the convoy may be under scrutiny, with additional subpoenas expected as the investigation develops.

Piker, who describes himself as a socialist commentator, previously discussed the Cuba trip on social media and documented parts of the visit before travelling to Havana with fellow activists.

Responding to the report, Piker wrote on X: “the american govt would rather try to criminalize delivering aid to a country we’ve starved, than punish the epstein class,” adding further criticism of the investigation.
