Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo has publicly come out as gay while confirming the end of his 14 year marriage to Fleur Shomo following months of speculation surrounding his personal life.

The singer shared the announcement in a lengthy Instagram statement, describing himself as a “proudly gay man” and explaining that he had spent years trying to understand and accept his sexuality. Shomo said the process had been emotionally difficult and tied closely to struggles with alcohol, mental health and self identity.

The musician explained that much of his songwriting over the years reflected deeply personal battles connected to his upbringing and emotional state. He said he had explored themes including depression, hopelessness and self hatred throughout his music career, but admitted that he avoided confronting the root of certain feelings for a long time.

Shomo also revealed that giving up alcohol became a turning point in his personal journey. According to the singer, sobriety allowed him to begin understanding emotions and experiences he had buried for years. He described the process as painful but ultimately necessary in reaching a place of self acceptance.

The announcement arrives several months after Beartooth released the single “Free” in February 2026. The music video featured Shomo wearing glitter, make up and clothing styles that many fans viewed as part of a more open expression of identity. At the time, speculation about his sexuality and marriage intensified online, though neither he nor Fleur publicly addressed it until now.

Shortly after Shomo’s statement, Fleur Shomo released a message of her own confirming that their marriage had ended. In an emotional social media post accompanied by footage of the pair dancing together, she described the separation as deeply painful while also expressing support for her former partner.

Fleur wrote that she had always wanted Caleb to find happiness and peace, even while acknowledging the heartbreak of losing the relationship they built together. She described the situation as confusing and emotionally difficult, adding that she already missed her husband and the life they shared.

The couple had been together throughout much of Beartooth’s rise in the rock scene during the 2010s and 2020s. Fans reacted with a wave of support online after both statements were published, with many praising the honesty and compassion shown by both Caleb and Fleur during such a personal moment.

The news also comes shortly after Beartooth announced the United States leg of the PURE ECSTASY WORLD TOUR, which is expected to continue later this year with support acts including Don Broco, Magnolia Park and Windwaker.
