NICL scam: FIA denied extension for final challan against Moonis

FIA had sought 15 days to submit the challan in the case.

Express September 26, 2011

The court on Monday refused to grant 15 days to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit the final challan against Moonis Elahi in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) case.

During the hearing today, the FIA had sought 15 days to submit the challan in the case.

However, investigation office Zafar Qureshi did not appear before the court due to security reasons.

Counsel for Moonis Elahi argued that the FIA should not be granted further time for the submission of the challan, considering Qureshi's absence from court as contempt of court.

The court after hearing arguments from both sides has reserved its decision till October 3.
