BTS’s RM prompted widespread discussion after remarks made during a recent livestream were interpreted by many fans as a subtle response to Jungkook’s dating controversy.
Although RM did not reference Jungkook or any specific incident, viewers noted that his comments about responsibility, independence and limits as a leader appeared closely timed to the ongoing debate.
RM spoke openly about his role, explaining that as the members have entered their 30s, there are boundaries around how much he can intervene in their personal situations.
He noted that while he remains aware of what is happening around the group, he cannot manage issues that involve another person’s life. He said, “What I really want to say is that I can no longer represent our team on my own. That’s because I’m just one person, one human being.”
Reflecting on earlier years, RM explained that he once felt able to guide the team more directly, but that this became less realistic as each member grew into an independent individual with separate lifestyles and responsibilities.
He added, “So now, the idea that I should go to the company due to the members, or that I should somehow control or manage what the members do, that doesn’t really apply anymore.”
RM also acknowledged that BTS has endured difficult periods. He said: “There were times when we thought about halting the team. I asked myself thousands of times — should we disband? Should we pause? Still, I’m thankful we’re together.”
He hinted that fans may never know the full details behind moments of inactivity, explaining, “There are things we simply can’t explain.”
Despite addressing uncertainty, RM offered reassurance about future plans. He confirmed that the group’s new album is nearly complete and that they are practising daily, though he admitted certain topics cannot be discussed openly because “there’s a lot I can’t reveal because our company is listed.”
Although RM has not provided further clarification, many listeners felt his comments conveyed both honesty and quiet frustration as he outlined the limits of leadership within the group’s current reality.
