Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton shared a long-awaited reunion more than a decade after their last joint public appearance, according to PEOPLE, which was on site for the moment.
The former Harry Potter co-stars met at a New York City screening of Merrily We Roll Along on Dec. 1, where Radcliffe appeared in the filmed version of the 2023 revival. As attendees were being ushered into the Hudson Theatre, Radcliffe and Felton spotted each other, exchanged a warm hug, and posed for their first public photo together since 2011.
Radcliffe, 36, and Felton, 38, became friends while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, released 24 years ago. Despite their on-screen rivalry as Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy, the actors have maintained an amicable bond off-screen. Felton has previously credited Radcliffe — a Tony Award winner — with inspiring him to pursue theater, something he reiterated during an appearance on Good Morning America in November.
Felton is currently starring on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, reprising his role as Draco in the stage sequel that follows the next generation of Hogwarts families. The production continues to draw large audiences and recently posted a record-breaking Thanksgiving box office haul. Fans attending the show can even watch Felton recreate one of Draco’s signature lines from the film series.
Radcliffe has not yet seen Felton perform in Cursed Child, but told GMA that he was touched to be considered an influence, calling Felton’s praise “really sweet.” He added that he looks forward to having his longtime friend in New York while they work on separate projects.
Radcliffe is set to return to Broadway in 2026 in the premiere of Every Brilliant Thing, with previews beginning Feb. 21 at the Hudson Theatre. The actor recently described the solo play as a moving and humorous exploration of depression and the small joys that sustain people throughout life.
Before then, audiences can see Radcliffe in the big-screen release of Merrily We Roll Along on Dec. 5. He recently told Late Night with Seth Meyers that watching the filmed performance was both cringeworthy and rewarding — especially when viewing his co-stars Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez.
