
In a commanding performance on Wednesday, the Houston Rockets secured a 118-106 victory over the visiting San Antonio Spurs, propelled by the dynamic duo of Amen Thompson and Jalen Green.
Thompson delivered an impressive 25 points, shooting 12-of-15 from the field, while also contributing nine rebounds and five assists. Green added 21 points and seven rebounds to the tally.
Dillon Brooks was a sharpshooter from beyond the arc, sinking five three-pointers to amass 19 points. This win allowed Houston to clinch the season series against San Antonio with a 3-1 advantage.
The Spurs' bench showcased depth, with Keldon Johnson and rookie Stephon Castle each contributing 22 points. Castle's all-around performance included seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Despite these efforts, San Antonio faced its fourth consecutive defeat. Notably, their starters struggled, with Devin Vassell leading the first unit with just nine points.
Houston set the tone early, with Brooks hitting back-to-back three-pointers as the Rockets made their first five shots, establishing a 14-4 lead within the initial three minutes. The Rockets' starters were particularly efficient, combining for 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting in the first quarter, leading to a 34-20 advantage.
The Spurs attempted to rally in the second quarter, narrowing a 20-point deficit to 12 after a three-point play by Johnson. However, Houston responded, extending their lead to 64-46 by halftime.
The Rockets maintained control throughout, at one point leading by 28 points in the third quarter, and concluded the game with a significant 60-41 rebounding edge. Jeff Green also made a notable contribution off the bench, scoring 13 points.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. The Spurs will travel to Memphis to face the Grizzlies, aiming to break their losing streak. Meanwhile, the Rockets will host the Sacramento Kings at the Toyota Center, seeking to build on their recent success.
