Tennis: ‘My emotions got the better of me’

NEW YORK: Serena Williams has admitted her emotions got the better of her during the US Open final against Samantha Stosur. The 29-year-old has refused to apologise for her outburst but she has taken to Twitter to explain her actions. “My emotions did get the best of me this past weekend when I disagreed with the umpire,” tweeted Serena. “It’s been a long road to get back to the US Open this year, and I’m thankful to have had such a great two weeks.” Stosur’s win was overshadowed by Williams’ outburst at umpire Eva Asderaki, which saw the former world numer one aim a string of stinging insults at the official.
