PTI might delay civil disobedience under pretext of martyrs issue: Faisal Vawda

Senior Senator Faisal Vawda has suggested that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s planned civil disobedience movement may be delayed, and the pretext of the martyrs issue could be used to postpone such actions.

In a conversation with a local TV channel, Senator Vawda said that the PTI was seemingly focused on protecting General (retd) Faiz Hameed, who was the corps commander in Peshawar when violence during the May 9 protests took place.

"PTI is doing everything it can to save Faiz Hameed," Vawda claimed. "If his neck is saved, so will others."

Vawda further asserted that the army, after gathering evidence, would likely issue a charge sheet against those responsible for the incidents on May 9.

He added that there had been growing evidence, including audio clips and messages, implicating the founding chairman of PTI Imran Khan, suggesting their role in the unrest.

"The only person in PTI who was not under Faiz Hameed’s control is the founder," Vawda stated.

In addition, Vawda expressed concerns over the issue of the madrasah registration bill, predicting that the government would find a way forward in the coming week.

He also suggested that if the May 9 violence were to be acknowledged, it would be impossible to dismiss the issue completely.

The senator also addressed the ongoing cases of Arshad Sharif's murder and the assassination attempt on Imran Khan, reaffirming that trustworthy individuals were involved in the assassination attempt on Khan.

Vawda criticised those attempting to distance themselves from the party's image and called for accountability regarding the May 9 events.

Earlier this week, Senator Vawda said PTI is in a “state of mourning” over the charge sheet in the General (retired) Faiz Hameed who as head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), under Imran Khan's prime ministerial tenure.

“It has come out, and it is not like the courts where accusations are made, and then a case will proceed. The evidence against the sins committed has been compiled and finalised. Now, the chapter is closed.”

He adds that investigations are still ongoing into other crimes, and that evidence will also be compiled to bring matters to their logical conclusion.

In a conversation on Express News' programme "Kal Tak," the senator pointed out that he had been saying for two years that such a time would come for Imran Khan. “They have dragged him into this mess. Even today, the difficulties and troubles are for Imran Khan, not for anyone else. Bushra Bibi and the rest of the cronies will also be involved. That chapter is now closed, and they are eager for negotiations.”

He said that at the same time, a campaign is being run on social media, suggesting that people in jails are being mistreated. “This is done to provoke the public. Brainwashing is the name of the game, especially for children, toward the events of May 9.’

The senator hoped that the Pakistani people, supporters, and voters peacefully explain to their children to steer clear of such propaganda.

“These are false and dishonest individuals. A campaign is also being run to trap Khan. They have created a new narrative in the places he spoke.” He alleged that certain quarters wanted to physically harm Imran Khan.
