Security forces have killed 43 terrorists in a series of Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan since December 9, marking a significant blow to militant groups operating in the regions, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported
According to the ISPR, the operations targeted various terrorist hideouts linked to groups such as Fitna-Al-Khawarij, which have been active in both provinces as the ongoing crackdown has led to a series of successful engagements, significantly weakening the presence of these groups.
The statement said that on Thursday and Friday, security forces carried out an IBO in Lakki Marwat District of K-P where they engaged and neutralised six terrorists. Since the start of the operations on December 9, 18 militants have been killed in K-P alone, the statement detailed.
The statement added that on December 13, two separate IBOs were conducted in the Musa Khel and Panjgur districts of Balochistan where after intense firefights, the security forces successfully neutralised ten terrorists.
With these latest deaths, the total number of militants eliminated in Balochistan since December 9 now stands at 25, the statement read.
The statement affirmed Pakistan's security forces' commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating that operations will continue until peace is restored and all terrorist groups are eliminated. It further stressed the determination of security forces to rid the nation of the growing menace posed by militant groups.
