Hip-hop star Talha Anjum is cresting on a high, on course to ending the year with a bang. Having been crowned Spotify's most streamed Pakistani artist last week, the rapper's debut film Kattar Karachi, which premiered in London last month, is due to hit Pakistani cinemas on December 20.

Rooted firmly in the rapper-turned-actor's album My Terrible Mind, the action-packed thriller is directed by Abdul Wali Baloch and features Talha as the protagonist, Imran Ashraf as the villain, and Kinza Hashmi as the lead female actor. Talha shared an image of the film's poster on Instagram and captioned, "I'm excited to share this amazing news with my fans—my film Kattar Karachi is hitting cinemas across Pakistan! Thank you for your unwavering love and support. Here's to new beginnings and unforgettable journeys!"

Talha also delighted his 1.6 million YouTube subscribers by sharing the official trailer lasting 1 minute and 22 seconds on December 11. Opening with the cacophony of night traffic and police sirens, the trailer sets the mood for the film with a series of shots of Karachi's streets.

"Get ready for an epic battle in Kattar Karachi, an intense action-packed thriller that explores the fight for freedom against a ruthless establishment," boasts the film's description. "As the city of Karachi becomes a battleground for justice, a fierce resistance emerges to challenge the oppressive forces that control it."

Expectations have been ramped high amongst Talha's fans, who filled the comments section with words of praise and high hopes. One fan in particular highlighted the joy of seeing Karachi portrayed on screen in its rawest form. "This is exactly what Pakistan needed," penned the commenter. "A movie that showcases Karachi in its true form, and none of that cousin-marriage BS mixed with extramarital affairs with the housemaid, or making Lahore or Islamabad like Karachi."

As Spotify's top Pakistani artist, Talha's musical endeavours have struck a chord with his fans – and now, it looks as if his upcoming film is on course to do the same.
