BBC presenter Gregg Wallace, known for hosting MasterChef, is under scrutiny following allegations of inappropriate behavior, including racist remarks and sexual misconduct. A former staff member claimed Wallace made offensive comments such as “kung fu fighting noises” and sexually charged remarks like “me so horny” directed at an Asian contestant during a 2017 series of the show.

The staff member, who filed a formal complaint, alleged Wallace frequently made these remarks to crew members after the contestant left the set. They revealed they refrained from raising concerns at the time due to their junior position.

This revelation follows a Telegraph investigation uncovering further allegations, including Wallace reportedly thrusting his crotch at a young staff member and telling an offensive rape joke on a 2017 Celebrity MasterChef series. Former contestant Dr. Kate Tomas also accused Wallace of mocking Indian culture and bullying her for wearing sindoor, a traditional red dye signifying marriage in Indian culture.

BBC and Banijay UK Respond
The BBC has stated that it takes such allegations seriously and will not tolerate behavior that falls below expected standards. While Wallace has stepped down from his hosting duties during the investigation, Banijay UK has appointed an external law firm to conduct an impartial review of the allegations.

Downing Street Calls Allegations "Deeply Concerning"
A No. 10 spokesperson described the allegations as “deeply concerning” and emphasized the importance of thorough investigations to uphold public confidence in the BBC’s workplace culture.

As investigations continue, Wallace’s role in the series remains uncertain, and the spotlight intensifies on the BBC and production companies to address workplace misconduct allegations comprehensively.
