India continue to dominate in the first Test against Australia at Perth, extending their lead to 151 runs on Day 2 of first Test.
With the openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, unbeaten at stumps, India are firmly in control of the match, having already set a strong foundation in both innings.
India's first innings saw them post 150 runs, and Australia could only manage a paltry 104 runs, with Mitchell Starc being the pick of the bowlers for Australia with figures of 2/27.
The Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, dominated the proceedings, dismissing Australia for less than 150 in under 40 overs.
Bumrah, along with Mohammed Siraj, troubled Australia's top order, while the spin duo of Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin kept the middle order in check.
In their second innings, India showed resilience, with openers Jaiswal and Rahul making solid progress. Jaiswal, in particular, appeared in excellent touch, notching up 53 runs off 142 balls, while Rahul supported him with a gritty 42 runs from 115 balls. The pair has so far added 105 runs for no loss, as they build on their already substantial lead.
Australia’s bowlers, including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins, toiled hard but couldn’t break the Indian partnership. Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, and Marnus Labuschagne also failed to make an impact.
India’s position has been bolstered by a solid partnership between their opening pair, which will likely increase pressure on the Australian team. With a commanding lead and a strong position in the game, India will look to extend their dominance in the final two sessions of the day.
