Jela was involved in more than 72 cases and was killed during an exchange of fire between the Organized Crime Unit, Model Town, and proclaimed offenders.

He was wanted by the police for several cases, including three murders during robberies and looting cash vans from several banks.

The offenders opened fire on the police party, during which Jela, considered a symbol of terror, was killed, while his two accomplices escaped.

According to the police, Jela was being taken to the Kahna police station to assist in the arrest of his accomplices when four unidentified men fired indiscriminately at the police party to free him.

Jela was severely injured by his own accomplices' firing and was being taken to the hospital, but he died on the way.

DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif said that in 2017, the deceased suspect had snatched Rs. 5 million from a citizen in the Nasirabad area of Lahore after the latter had withdrawn the money from a bank, and killed him when he resisted.
