KARACHI:

The 'Jashn-e-Urdu' event, organised by the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation during Student Week at Karachi University, concluded with a qawwali performance and a poetry recitation session.

Renowned poets enthralled the audience with their poems, drawing a sizeable crowd of students to experience the festivities. The turnout was so huge that many students had to stand as seating was full to capacity.

Senior MQM leaders Syed Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, and Aminul Haque attended the concluding events, praising the students for their efforts. While expressing his views during the poetry session, Kamal spoke about the country's economic decline, saying that the debt-pile has swollen to Rs78 trillion. This year, the government is supposed to pay nearly Rs9.5 trillion in interest, which is 52% of the national budget.

"We call our nation Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a fortress of Islam," Kamal stated. "However, if we do not address hypocrisy, our system will not improve. If I am mistaken, I invite you to present a counter-narrative, yet I find none in the assembly."
