Suspected robber killed in encounter

TANDIANWALA:

An alleged robber was killed, while another sustained injuries in a police encounter in the area of Gulberg police station on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said the Dolphin Force personnel signalled four suspects to stop near Metro Bridge Chowk but the suspects opened fire on the police team.

The police also returned fire and during this encounter, one of the criminals was killed while another sustained multiple injuries due to firing of their own accomplices.

However, their two accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness.

The deceased robber was identified as Shamroz, a resident of Ayub Research Jhang Road and wanted by the police in nine cases of robberies, local police officials said.
