ATTOCK:

Attock police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a man for allegedly torturing his wife and another for misbehaving with her neighbour.

The arrests follow the Punjab chief minister's "Never Again" campaign. A resident of Jatial, Amjad Mehmood's wife complained to the Hazro police that his husband used to physically assault and abuse her at their home.

On the day of the incident, the complainant and her daughters were present when Amjad arrived and immediately began abusing his wife.

He then violently grabbed her by the hair and beat her.

In another incident, the daughter of Bilal, a resident of Khagwani, complained to the Hazro police that she was busy with domestic work when she heard screams outside and rushed outside home to find her younger sister crying outside.

The complainant saw their neighbour Muhammad Nawaz verbally abusing her sister. When she intervened to rescue her sister, Nawaz turned his abuse towards her as well.

Hazro police lodged two separate cases of violence against women and arrested Amjad Mehmood of Jatial Hazro and Muhammad Nawaz of Khagwani Hazro.
