Landlord and son kill tenant in dispute

Police arrest duo after they allegedly caused 45-year-old Asif's death

A tenant was killed due to violence of the landlord and his son in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Upon receiving the report, Aziz Bhatti police arrived at the scene and transferred victim's body to Jinnah Hospital for legal proceedings and took the suspects to police station.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Asif. SHO Aziz Bhatti, Shahzad Ilyas, told The Express Tribune that there was a dispute between the landlord and the tenant in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13B over vacating the premises.

The landlord, Mairaj Ahmed Sheikh and his son, Muhammad Shafiq Miraj had asked Asif to vacate the house by Sunday, but he did not. This led to a quarrel between them. During the altercation, Mairaj and Shafiq punched and hit Asif, resulting in his death.

The SHO stated that further legal action is being taken against the arrested landlord and his son. According to police sources, Mairaj is also involved in illegal constructions in the area, and several complaints have been lodged against him by local residents at the Aziz Bhatti Police Station. Complaints have also been filed against him at the SBCA, and local residents are distressed due to the landlord's actions.
