Karachi violence: PTI calls for a ‘governor’s rule’
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan called for imposition of the “governor’s rule” in Karachi as the only solution to the city’s problems in the current situation.
Addressing a press conference, Khan questioned whether the administration and law enforcement agencies were effective in Karachi. The PTI chairman said that statements of Zulfiquar Mirza should be taken seriously. According to him, the accusations of Mirza were directly related to the integrity and stability of the country. Khan claimed that the PPP, MQM and ANP all had their full-fledged functional armed wings in Karachi, hence only an impartial governor rule with a powerful administration could restore peace.

@Salman Orangiwala: Imran have no power in Karachi situation. He could not do anything until he get people of Pakistan full support. I think Imran is the only Leader who can resolve Karachi's problem. He has condemned all this massacre and killing and also sugested best solution.

Imran Khan wants an impartial Governor for Sindh. Who will nominate this impartial Governor? Under the constitution it is the President who has to make the nomination. Will a nominee of Zardari be acceptable to him or should it be Extra Constitutional Effort for such an impartial Governor. Imran is a good man, but when it comes to law and Constitution, he is totally naive. He thinks that Chief Justice should be taking all the executive decisions. As a matter of fact, he is not comfortable with the democracy and constitution. His democracy started with Musharraf and ends up with Ch Iftikhar.
Why dont he ask for governer rule in Baluchistan? Situation there is even worst. And didmt he asked for governer rule in punjab, when booms were exploding there. Why everybody wants to take control of Karachi?
After reading the above comments, I suggest that Imran Khan and no other genuine person shouldn't step forward to bring peace and harmony and let us, the karachiites, continue to burn in this hell fire till we all finally realize for a drastic change.
Till then, let us all see our loved ones get chopped off in pieces, get looted, shot in head etc. And we thought Karachi is the city of highly polished and educated people.
This is probably just going to be like what he seems to usually do. Complains, makes accusations and promises and then disappears for a month only to reappear to do it again on some other topic. He's seemingly only dedicated to getting attention. Not so much the people. It just so happens the most efficient way to get attention is to tell the majority of your target audience what they want to hear.

Well he will be able to nominate his own governor sometime in 2013 so i suppose we must suffer another couple of years till then.
Agree with Ik that governor should be non political ( as per our constitution), however do not agree with his governor rule suggestion. People of Karachi and Sindh deserve (both rightfully and wrongly) what they have elected. PS he did not offer himself as a governor. False reporting by ET.

@ bangash the entire sindh assembly did nothing to stop the bloodshed in karachi so maybe its time we start disregarding them
How sad ET, he has clearly stated in his interviews that these are recommendations, suggesting that in principle any person with no bias towards any party should be selected as Governer. For those who say the Sindh govt is elected, you should then be happy with the law and order situation also, why cry when you are justifying the people responsible!

Amazing how Imran Khan can simply disregard the entire elected Sindh Assembly.
Yeah ! that was the ONLY thing Karachi was lacking .IK for the Governor !!!!!!! Where was Imran during the recent gory bloodsehdding in Karachi ? This guy has got some nerve and evidently the most lucious sense of humor , I must admit !
And target killers will hand themselves over to Imran and will not target his party members!
