The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken swift action in the investigation of the shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra West on April 14. Confirming the development, Mumbai police revealed that the suspects, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were apprehended in the Bhuj district of Gujarat.
According to reports from ANI and Hindustan Times, the duo, who fled Mumbai following the shooting, will be brought back to the city on Tuesday for additional interrogation. They have an appearance planned in court later in the day to discuss the incident-related charges.
The arrests come after images of the suspects circulated on social media platforms. The shooting, which occurred around 5 am outside Salman's Galaxy Apartments, saw four shots fired from a motorcycle before the assailants fled. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Salman was confirmed to be present at home during the incident.
As per reports, after the shooting, the suspects left their motorbike outside a nearby church and made their way on foot to the Bandra railway station. They then rented another autorickshaw at the Santacruz station after taking a train there. Notably, the attack on social media channels was attributed to Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of infamous mobster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The apprehension of Gupta and Pal marks a significant breakthrough in the case, as authorities work to ascertain the motive behind the shooting and any potential links to criminal organizations. As the investigation unfolds, Mumbai police are expected to provide further details regarding the suspects and their connection to the incident.
In light of the frightening events, Arbaaz Khan issued a statement, dispelling rumours of the attack being a publicity stunt. In an Instagram post, Salman's brother penned, "The recent incident of firing by two unidentified persons on a motorcycle at Galaxy Apartments, the residence of the Salim Khan family, is very disturbing and unnerving. Our family has been taken aback by this shocking incident that took place."
He furthered, "Unfortunately, some people claiming to be close to our family and pretending to be the spokesperson have been making loose statements to the media saying it's all a publicity stunt and the family remains unaffected which is not true and these views should not be taken seriously. No member of the Salim Khan family has made any statement regarding this incident to the media."
Capping off the message, the post read, "At this time the family is helping and cooperating with the police in the investigation of this untoward incident. We have faith in the Mumbai police and we have been assured they will do everything in their capacity to protect and secure our family. Thank you everyone for your love and support,”
