Robbers’ gang busted, Rs1 million seized

Gang was involved in snatching of a oil tanker, and recovered Rs1 million from their possession

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Police busted a five-member gang, which was involved in snatching of a oil tanker, and recovered Rs1 million from their possession on Monday. The police arrested the five men and recovered the amount they collected after selling the oil , sources said.


The police have obtained physical remand of the culprits, who snatched the tanker at gunpoint on IJ Principal Road, from the relevant court for further investigations.  Sources added that after selling the oil the suspects abandoned the tanker at Haji Shah More in Attock. A case was registered with the Sabzi Mandi Police under section 395 of Pakistan Penal Code in this regard.

Later, SSP Islamabad Mohammad Yousuf Malik transferred the case to the CIA Police on request of the complainant. The CIA In-charge Bashir Ahmad Noon along with Tariq Rauf and Zafar Iqbal traced and arrested the culprits. The culprits were identified as Asif Iqbal, Sajid Mahmood, Shahzad and Aamir Saeed and Matloob Husain. Save for the last one, Hussain, who is from Attock, the rest of the members are from Rawalpindi. The SSP announced cash reward and appreciation letters for the police officials who were investigating the case.
