ISLAMABAD:

An exhibition of latest photographs by Muhammad Azhar Hafeez opened at Nomad Art Gallery on Monday.

Through the photographs the artist portrays his journey through Pakistan, capturing the scenic beauty of the countryside and its traditions, festivals and people.

Currently working as a senior computer graphic designer for PTV, Hafeez puts his spare time and energy into his passion for photojournalism. “These photographs are from my recent travels to various parts of the country and Kashmir,” he said.

The photographer has travelled to post-Taliban Swat, so his collection is a visual representation of the conditions in the northwest.

“All I have tried with my camera is to show Pakistan at its best and to represent its people and landscape in harmony and not tarnished by chaos and disorder,” he added.

The title of the show, ‘In memory of my loving mother’ is symbolic and dedicated to his mother and Pakistan.  “I learnt photography by studying Mother Nature and have dedicated this exhibition to my mother who recently passed away,” he said.

The exhibit covers pictures from the shores of Gwadar to the first fog over the Faisal Mosque and the Siachin valley, with the most stunning shot being that of Islamabad’s Rawal Lake.

The photographs are priced between Rs4,000- Rs10,000. The show will continue till September 13.
