RAWALPINDI:
This is with reference to your ongoing coverage of the fake degrees issues, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is in the process of verifying degrees of over a thousand members of parliament. It is imperative for our parliamentarians to have some minimum education qualifications to understand the complexities of the modern world. It is even more crucial that our legislators do not cheat to get elected.
Only an independent citizen’s commission should verify degrees of all MPs to make the process transparent and fair. The HEC is not credible enough to do this by itself.

Dear Editor,
AoA,
It's really depressing to note that politicians like Mr. Jamshed Dasti return to our "sacred" parliament so easily and to put salt on the injury, is made Advisor to Prime Minister on "Livestock Affairs".
I suggest to Prime Minister to change Mr. Dasti's portfolio as Advisor on "Fraud Affairs" as he may advise him better how to succeed on fake documents and move on so casually as if nothing has happended.
I also salute to the courage (read shamelessness!!)shown by Mr. Dasti by appearing on tv talk shows with so much confidence and to defend his fake degree on the basis that earlier, before the Supreme Court, he could not defend his M.A. Islamic Studies degree because he had got confused. He was also adamant that Supreme Court had not declared him disqualified as he had resigned himself before any verdict was announced.
Mr. Dasti is just like the tip of iceburg. Now, one hears disqualification of a public representative declared disqualified every other day. Both major parties are responsible for this menace. Now, this issue may take a really nasty shape, if dozens of MNAs or MPAs belonging to either party, are disqualified engroup, due to the ongoing documents verification by HEC. May Allah have mercy on us, Aameen!!
