At least three labourers were electrocuted to death in Rawalpindi on Friday.
According to a police spokesperson, the unfortunate incident unfolded near Haji Chowk within the limits of the Sadiqabad police.
He said all three deceased individuals were painters by profession and were painting a building of a local school. Initial investigation revealed that the incident occurred when they accidentally collided with power transmission lines while working on iron stairs near the school building. The police disclosed that among those who lost their lives due to the electric current, 20-year-old Mazhar, 22-year-old Umardaraz, and Imtiaz were included.
After the incident, Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene and transferred all individuals to the hospital. Medical professionals at the hospital confirmed the deaths of all three of them.

Local police have initiated an investigation after filing a case, and the bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their respective families.
The incident has once again shed light on the dangerous working conditions in which labourers work daily to earn a livelihood for their families.
On the other hand, rights organisations have long expressed concerns about the lack of safety gear for workers working in the most inhumane conditions across the country. They have urged the government to address the issue on a war footing.
