Has Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwai finally found a leading lady for the third installment of Don? There are rumblings in the industry suggesting that Priyanka Chopra may stage a comeback to the popular series in the foreseeable future, as per Filmfare.
Insider reports reveal that the team behind the Don franchise has extended an invitation to the Citadel star, proposing her return to the cast for the upcoming sequel.
Allegedly, Priyanka is contemplating her potential next move in Bollywood, and the Don franchise is on her radar. Following Farhan's announcement about Ranveer Singh stepping into the notorious gangster's shoes in the forthcoming part, attention has shifted towards Don 3.
Insider insights suggest that the former Miss World might revive her role as Roma Bhagat in the upcoming film. Preliminary discussions occurred during Priyanka's recent India visit. "The Don 3 team has approached Priyanka Chopra to revisit her character. The initial discussions happened during Priyanka's recent visit to India for professional commitments," shared a source.
The source continued, revealing, "Priyanka shares a strong bond with Farhan, and she's exploring the possibility, assessing her schedule. Her return seems plausible now that Shah Rukh is no longer involved in the project." Additionally, it's hinted that Farhan is geared up to kickstart Don 3, provided the Indian icon gives her nod.
"Given the stall in Jee Le Zara due to scheduling conflicts, Farhan is considering a reunion with his Dil Dhadakne Do comrades," the source mentioned. "Priyanka has signalled her interest, and if things align, it could bring back the Dil Dhadakne Do gang. It's a prospect worth watching out for," they added.
It is pertinent to mention that Ranveer and Priyanka were last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, Bajirao Mastani, alongside Deepika Padukone. With Farhan's readiness and the Padmaavat star's involvement set, the awaited sign-off from Priyanka could signal the green light for the highly anticipated Don 3.
Previously, in an interview with the BBC Asian Network radio station, Farhan revealed that Ranveer is “really excited and really nervous” to step into the franchise, previously led by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. The filmmaker also mentioned that he and his team went through the “same emotional process” back when Shah Rukh took the mantle from Big B.
The producer said, “I am looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing, he is great for the part. He is also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous for the part that he will be filling some big shoes. "
