The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought a progress report from the prosecution regarding the upcoming hearing in the murder case of Rangers officer Dildar in Liaquatabad.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, gave the order while hearing the bail petition of MQM worker Ubaid K-2 on Tuesday.
The prosecutor argued that Rangers officials have yet to testify in the case, and statements of all witness, except for the Rangers personnel, have been recorded. The petitioner's counsel contended that the prosecution was employing delay tactics, and witness statements remained unrecorded even after many years. The prosecution, on the other hand, claimed that a majority of the witnesses in the case have had their statements recorded, with the key witnesses being retired Rangers personnel.
During the hearing, the court stated that the trial court must proceed with the case according to the law if the prosecution can present the remaining witnesses. Despite repeated opportunities, the Rangers were unable to produce prosecution witnesses against the officials.

The court ordered the prosecution to furnish a progress report at the next hearing, and adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
According to police, Ubaid K-2, along with his accomplices, was accused of shooting and killing Rangers officer Dildar in the Liaquatabad area in 1998. In 2002, Nadir Shah and Ubaid K-2 were convicted in the case. Ubaid K-2 remained at large until his arrest in 2015 during an operation at Nine-Zero. Subsequently, Nadir Shah and Ubaid K-2 were both sentenced to life imprisonment.
Water supply to DHA, Clifton
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the petitioners to carefully assess the water board's response to concerns raised about water supply to residents of DHA and Clifton.
During the proceedings, the SHC reviewed petitions addressing the pressing issue of water supply in the DHA and Clifton areas. The managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) presented a comprehensive report to the court, which disclosed that a meeting involving all key stakeholders had been convened on October 7, in compliance with the court's order regarding water supply to DHA and Clifton.

The counsel for the petitioners expressed concerns that the court orders were not being fully adhered to. In support of these claims, the minutes of the meeting were submitted as evidence.
According to the minutes, a proposal was made to lay a supply line from Damloti to the Etihad pumping station to ensure a consistent water supply to DHA and Clifton. As part of this proposal, DHA and Clifton are expected to receive six million gallons per day from the water board and an additional one million gallons from Chakra Goth. This would result in residents of DHA and Clifton having access to water five days a week.
