The Surjani Town police apprehended five members of ‘Burmi dacoits gang’ in a successful operation near the Northern Bypass. During the operation firearms, mobile phones, cash and other valuables were recovered from the suspects.
SSP West Mehzor Ali said that the arrested gangsters were identified as M. Ali, Ismail, Sikandar, Habib-ur-Rehman, Kabeer, and Younus. Notably, the leader of the Burmi dacoit gang was killed in a police encounter. The masterminds behind the gang were identified as Abdul Hafeez and Abul Hasan.
The modus operandi of the gang involved infiltrating citizens’ homes while posing as law enforcement or agency personnel. The gang’s activities extended to committing indecent acts against women during these incidents. Most of these criminal occurrences were concentrated in the districts of Korangi, east, central, and west.
