Two suspected thieves, identified as Afghan nationals, were shot dead while fleeing on two motorcycles after a botched attempt to steal valuable parts from a vehicle in North Nazimabad, police said on Tuesday as they investigate to find out who fired the shots.

As per details, the incident happened on Monday morning within the remits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station, near Shipowners' Government College. The corpses were transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they were identified as Nasrullah and Ehsanullah, both Afghan nationals and residents of Ittehad Town.

They appeared to be in their early to mid-twenties. Both of them, according to SHO Qamar Javed Kayani, had a history of involvement in stealing valuables from vehicles. Police are actively searching for the third accomplice who managed to flee the scene. SHO Kayani stated that the shooting took place between 5am and 5.30am in which three suspected robbers, riding two motorcycles, were targeted. Two of them lost their lives, while the third escaped.
