QUETTA:

The Balochistan Civil Service (BCS) officers on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration outside the office of the chief secretary as they opposed the merger of the Balochistan Secretariat Services (BSS) into the BCS cadre in the province, terming it a “conspiracy” against the officers and the administrative structure of the province.

They termed the decision made by the outgoing CM Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as illegal and unconstitutional.

The BCS Officers Action Committee also held a detailed meeting with the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) secretary and expressed their concerns that the merger of the BSS cadre into the BCS cadre is not only illegal but also unconstitutional.

The committee members said that only 4 out of 22 members signed the report of the parliamentary committee, claiming that the signature of the chairman was not there. “Despite the fact that the S&GAD has repeatedly sent a summary of the same report,” they added pointing out “there is no legal status.”

The committee on administrative officers of the province clarified to the S&GAD secretary that “this falls under the category of contempt of court.”

There are numerous decisions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this regard.

Recently, the Sindh High Court (SHC) also gave a historic decision regarding the establishment of PMS.

“Administrative officers will take all possible measures for their legitimate rights including the closure of all administrative and revenue offices of Balochistan,” the protesting officers warned.

The protesting officers announced a peaceful protest on August 16 (today) against this decision of the government.
