Sikh community arranges event to honour services and sacrifices rendered by religious minorities for the country

National Minority Day was observed at the Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasanabdal to commemorate the contribution of minorities to the progress of Pakistan. The Sikh community arranged the event to honour the services and sacrifices rendered by religious minorities for the country.

Speaking as chief guest at the event, Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) Managing Director Amir Fida Paracha said in Pakistan, religious freedom and the protection of the rights of minorities are enshrined in the constitution and protected by legislation.

He added that it has always been the endeavour of the government to safeguard the fundamental rights, safety, security, honour, life, liberty and prosperity of minorities in line with the historic speech of the founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Paracha was of the view that minorities are provided with equal rights to education, jobs and business opportunities in the country.
