Panic grips Hyderabad as tanker explosion kills 14

At least 16 people have been killed and 40 others injured in a chemical tanker explosion near Halanaka area of Hyderabad.

At least 14 people were killed and 50 others injured in a accidental chemical tanker explosion near Halanaka area of Hyderabad today.

SP Investigation has said the blast was triggered by a build-up of pressure inside the tanker's storage area.

An eyewitness, Mian Ajmal Shah, said the blast took place while welding of the tanker was in progress.

Several shops have been destroyed in the explosion and the area's power supply has also been disrupted.

Police and rangers have cordoned off the area and rescue teams have shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Hyderabad. Most of the injured are in a stable condition.

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply There is not a single day when innocent citizens are not killed in the country whether due to suicide attack, bomb blast or in an accident. Whe would our government implement on the safety rules? Majority of the people are killed comparing to the people who are rescued from terrorism, bomb blasts and accidents. Every body has the equal right to live but due to non-implementation of safety rules people die every now and then. Sale of condolence cards are much higher in the market than the sale of greeting cards. It's very disgusting.
