Seven die in road crashes

1,215 others injured in 1,165 road accidents across 37 districts of Punjab in past 24 hours

At least seven people lost their lives and 1,215 others suffered injuries in 1,165 road traffic crashes that occurred across all 37 districts of Punjab within the past 24 hours.

According to official data, 592 victims who suffered severe injuries were transported to hospitals, while 623 were treated by rescue medical teams for minor injuries.

The statistics revealed that 71 per cent of the traffic accidents involved motorbikes, highlighting the vulnerability of two-wheeler users on the roads.

The victims included 34 underage and 588 adult drivers, 188 pedestrians and 446 passengers.

Lahore recorded the highest number of road crashes with 279 incidents affecting 294 people. Faislaabad followed with 76 incidents and 71 victims and Multan with 74 traffic crashes impacting 73 individuals.

Among the victims, 214 were under 18 years old, 640 aged between 18 and 40 years, and 368 above 40.

Vehicle involvement data indicated that 1,014 motorbikes, 90 auto-rickshaws, 108 cars, 35 vans, 10 buses, 29 trucks and 98 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the reported road traffic accidents.
