Fines worth Rs46,000 for overcharging, missing fitness certificates, overloading and using LPG during crackdown

District Regional Transport Authority (RTA) penalised 39 commercial vehicles and imposed fines worth Rs46,000 for overcharging, missing fitness certificates, overloading and using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) during a crackdown launched on Wednesday.

In line with special directives from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wasim Hamid Sandhu, the RTA, under the supervision of Secretary Hina Rehman, launched a crackdown against commercial vehicles involved in violations.

The team set up pickets on various roads and checked fitness certificates, fares and loads on vehicles. The team penalised 39 vehicles and imposed fines worth Rs46,000 over violations.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary RTA Rehman said that the DC directed the RTA and traffic police to ensure strict action against transporters extorting passengers during Eidul Fitr.

She directed bus and wagon stand owners to display fare lists at prominent areas.
