A "retirement gift" has been prepared for PCB's Director of International Cricket, Zakir Khan.

Zakir Khan is supposedly a very close friend of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. In the past, when Najam Sethi became the PCB chairman, he was sidelined, but during this time, he was getting a regular salary without any work. This move was made to avoid Imran Khan's possible displeasure over the scenario.

Now Najam Sethi is taking charge as the chairman of the management committee in the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Zakir will retire from the post of Director of International Cricket next week after turning 60. During this time, he tried to somehow get a one-year extension, but he couldn't succeed.

Sources said that although Najam Sethi does not have a cordial relation with Imran Khan, he does not want to further disturb the relationship with him, and they know that if Zakir is dismissed, the former captain will be  furious.

Hence, Zakir will be kept busy managing the U-19 teams. Zakir has been taken into confidence in this regard. He will rather be happy with the foreign tours and the remuneration received during these tours. There will be no pressure of work at the U-19 level either.

Furthermore, the possibility of promoting Usman Wahla as Director of International Cricket is now brighter. However, as in the past, some officials may still oppose giving him this responsibility.
