A gandasa from 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' auctioned for $50,000

One of the 80 props used in the movie was sold off at an event in Canada and the money is set to be donated to charity

The Legend of Maula Jatt, the highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time, continues to create a stir in the film industry, stated a press release. With a worldwide collection of Rs2.93 billion and still running successfully in cinemas, the movie has captivated audiences globally. The film has made history by becoming the first Pakistani movie to set a 100 crore benchmark in 75 years of Pakistani film industry history.

Recently, at an event in Toronto, Canada, one of the 80 gandasa props used in the movie was auctioned off for an astounding $50,000.

The initial bid started at $5000 with 7000 people in attendance at the event. All the proceeds from this charity will go to Sahara Life Trust. It is interesting to note that the actual gandasa weapon used by the film’s hero Fawad Khan, is soon to be displayed for a walk-through Maula Jatt experience in Lahore.

The Legend of Maula Jatt has emerged as one of the top three films from the subcontinent with the highest screen average between 2018-2023 in many overseas territories. In markets like the USA, The Legend of Maula Jatt on average per screen gross collection of $12,797 from 89 screens whereas RRR made an average of $10,833 from 1200 screens.

Directed by Bilal Lashari and produced by Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari’s joint venture, Encylomedia - Lashari JV, the film has been released and distributed by Mandviwala entertainment in Pakistan.

Along with the unprecedented box office collections, the film opened to extremely positive reviews and critical plaudit, appreciating the stellar performances of its leading cast including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malik, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi and Ali Azmat.
