RAWALPINDI:

The local administration and the Rawalpindi Regional Transport Authority on Friday launched an operation against illegal bus stands established for years in the Pirwadhai area.

On the first day of the operation, 25 illegal bus stands were dismantled and several operators and owners were detained at the Pirwadhai police station. Regional Transport Authority officials said that the operation has been launched to remove illegal bus stands, obstructing traffic to and from the Pirwadhai bus terminal.

Officials claimed that all terminals at the Pirwadhai bust stand have been restored with the provision of various facilities including separate waiting areas for men and women.
