Newly appointed captain, Babar Azam, wants to keep Peshawar Zalmi’s experienced pacer, Wahab Riaz, under his control during the upcoming eighth edition of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Wahab was recently appointed as the sports minister in the caretaker cabinet of the Punjab government in Pakistan.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the appointment as part of an 11-person caretaker cabinet following the dissolution of the assembly and the end of Pervez Elahi's tenure as chief minister.

“I am excited about Wahab Bhai becoming minister. He has a lot of T20 experience under his belt. However, I will have to keep the minister in check. He sometimes gets too overexcited and loses control over his line during bowling. So I have to give him regular dose [of advise],” Babar chuckled in PCB podcast released on Thursday.

Riaz has 237 international wickets across all formats and was a member of the Pakistan team that won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Peshawar Zalmi will travel to Karachi where they will take on Karachi Kings on 14 February.
