Lahore High Court's (LHC) Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh fixed February 6 for hearing in the protective bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill after the federal additional secretary interior sought time to provide a record of fresh or old FIRs registered against Gill.
Petitioner Gill filed a plea seeking protective bail at the LHC after Federal Special Public Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi confirmed the registration of the FIR. However, Justice Sheikh on January 19 granted protective bail to the PTI leader.
In previous proceedings, additional interior and home secretaries had been summoned after the lawyers representing the federation did not appear to be on the same page. On Thursday, the special secretary to the home submitting report informed the court that no FIRs either fresh or old have been registered against Gill.
The federal additional interior secretary also said no fresh FIR has been registered. Justice Sheikh asked him whether or not there was an FIR registered. The judge expressed his displeasure after he could not satisfy the court.
