KARACHI:

A young married woman has mysteriously gone missing from the Malir Cantt area.

Family of Sumbul Sultan Yaqoob, 22, said a government employee had given her a false pretense of employment and she had gone to meet him in the Malir Cantt area from where she disappeared.

Police have registered a case and started investigation. Altaf Hussain, a relative of Sumbul told The Express Tribune that she belongs to the Daur town of Nawabshaha.

She and her husband Sultan Yaqoob had come to live in the Ranchhore Lines area of Karachi few months ago. Hussain said that a family acquaintance, Tahir Kerio, a peon in Auditor General Office was coaxing to meet him so he could arrange employment for her. He had also taken Rs40,000 from Sumbul's mother for "bribing the right to people who will give her a job," Hussain said.

On December 26, Kerio called Sumbul and asked her to meet him at Malir Cantt, whereupon she along with her husband went to her relatives house in Malir Cantt and from there she went to meet Tahir, since then she has gone missing.

Initially, Sumbul's family searched for her at all possible places but did not find her, after which an FIR has been registered in the Malir Cantt police station.
