KARACHI:

A young man was crushed to death by a man driving his car at high speed during the morning rush hour.

Shehryar Jamshed, 22, was going on his motorcycle to work when a speeding vehicle coming from behind hit him and ran over him. Jamshed, a resident of Orangi Town, died on the spot.

Earlier on Wednesday, a day after people torched a bus for running over a couple, a bus driver going on high speed in violation of one-way crushed a motorcyclist killing the young victim on the spot in New Karachi on Wednesday.

Citizens incensed by the reckless divers wantonly killing people on the roads set the bus on fire. However, the vehicle of the busiest route of the city W-II was burnt only partially.

The body of the youth who died in the accident was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, where the deceased youth was identified as 18-year-old Jameel son of Mubeen. The deceased youth was a resident of New Karachi Khamsu Gotah and was employed at a garment factory.

The uncle of the deceased youth told the media at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital that said he was trying to file an FIR of the incident but officials of the New Karachi police station and Sarjani police station say the area is not in their jurisdiction. "When cops decide to rob people in name of snap checking the whole city becomes their jurisdiction, but when an incident happens you squabble on jurisdiction," the heartbroken man said.

Traffic policemen are stationed in the morning hours, but they are so much busy in robbing the vehicles coming from the vegetable market, that they could not see the vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
