LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday wondered where in the world does it happen that a fugitive takes important decisions related to national security, adding that consulting such a person on the matter violates the Official Secrets Act.

Addressing the participants of the party’s long march via video-link, the former prime minister expressed his apprehensions, saying that an absconding person would appoint the army chief for his own interest, ignoring merit.

Imran reiterated his claim of a foreign conspiracy against his government, saying that the cipher is present before the federal cabinet, National Security Council (NSC) and the parliament.

He highlighted the times when President Dr Arif Alvi sent the cipher to the chief justice and Ambassador Asad Majeed informed the NSC during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s tenure that American official Donald Lu had threatened to remove him.

The PTI chief further said that the NSC chaired by Shehbaz also confirmed that there was an ‘intervention’.

He said that he has filed a petition in the apex court to investigate Azam Swati case, Arshad Sharif case and the Wazirabad attack case.

Imran said that there was a murderous attack on him and as a former prime minister, he could not register a First Information Report (FIR).

“The constitution gives me the right to point them out, we have a government in Punjab, the Punjab police did not listen to us, listened to powerful circles, and did not register our FIR,” he highlighted.

He said that supremacy of law is the manifesto of his party.

“People wonder how does prosperity come, prosperity cannot come unless there is a rule of law,” he remarked. “My Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) first gave justice to the State of Madinah, then prosperity came.”
