Muhammad Ibrahim, one of the nominated accused in case number 172/22 registered under Sections 324 and 302 of the PPC six months ago, was shot dead at the gate of the court in Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday, police said.

Ibrahim, who had been on bail, was going to the court to attend a hearing in the said case, they said.

No sooner had he reached the gate of the court then the accused, Shahnawaz, who had been waiting for his victim’s arrival, opened fire on Muhammad Ibrahim at point-blank range, killing him on the spot, police said.

The apparent motive of the suspect in killing Ibrahim was to avenge the murder of his uncle, police surmised.

Police said murder was result of long-running feud between two groups of a family when Shahnawaz’s uncle was killed. And now it has taken another life.

Shahnawaz was overpowered and arrested by the police personnel posted outside the court. He was then handed over to the Civil Lines Police Station.
