MELBOURNE: Former Australia batsman Dean Jones reckons that the stakeholders in Australian cricket starting with the captain and the new five-man selection panel have to take ownership of a ‘new culture’ before the national team can start the long climb back to the top.

“It’s time to change and the new word is culture,” said Jones. “Culture starts with the captain, followed by the chairman of selectors. I believe the captain should be the most important person at Cricket Australia. It cannot be superficial. It has to come from within.”

Jones believed that current captain Michael Clarke had all the ingredients to make a fine leader and was confident that he could lead Australia back to the top.
